ALL ABOUT THE RELIGION AND IT'S ORIGIN
Taoism doesn’t have one original founder or date, but it is known to have originated in China about 2000 years ago. As it derived from many philosophical ideas and beliefs, a big part of its teaching is about how human being can relate to its teachings. One thing that is very important to know is that Tao isn’t a god and is not to be worshipped. Taoism doesn’t have a god in a way some religions like Islam, Christianity or Judaism does but there is no doubt that there is someone who created and controls the universe. Many Taoist do although show great honor to Lao Tsu as the first god of Taoism. This being said, Taoism has many gods who are borrowed form a lot of other religions and cultures.
There are some other beliefs like “The One”, who is known as someone like the child of the Tao. Wu and Yu show non-being and being, or not-having and having, something that is said that can be directly connects to humans. Te can be translated as virtue and at other times, being aware of the Tao allowing one to follow Tao. Topics like immortality are seen differently in Taoism as most people saw this as living in a physical body forever, but in Taoism it was seen as a way to get closer to your religious side there are that can be misleading depending on that person’s view. Last but not least, Yin Yang represents the light and dark, female and male, and cold and hot. This was important because even though they were not considered opposite, but complementary,and they showed no matter how different they were, they connected.
Taoists thought that being a good person who decides with the Tao in mind was more important than doing good acts. They had always that you should always take what you needed, no more, no less and not to take action unless it had affected you. When you had done something good, it was not only for you but also for the improvement of the world as a whole.
